Groove CairnGorm 2017

You don’t have to ski to groove!  There are lots of other fun things to create amazing memories and blow away the hangover in the fresh air that we have here in the Cairngorms.

Read on for our top 12 ideas all within easy reach of Aviemore and the festival site at Badaguish.

1.Treezone
High in the treetops TreeZone is the ultimate Aerial Adventure Course ….. Zip wires, balance beams, hanging platforms, tight-ropes, scramble nets, white knuckle bridges & gap jumps, set in the ancient Caledonian Pines of the Cairngorm Mountains.  Get a squirrel’s-eye view as you swing high in the trees tackling a host of TreeZone challenges.

2.Segways
Segways are two-wheeled, self-balancing people transporters. They use space-age gyroscopes combined with all-terrain tyres to ensure that you stay upright while exploring some awesome Highland scenery and having amazing fun at Rothiemurchus.

3.Quad Biking
A great activity for exploring the beautiful Caledonian Pine forest and open heather moors. You can zoom around Rothiemurchus at the foot of Cairngorm or try one of the other providers a little further afield.

4. Aviemore Kart Raceway
This brand new 550 metre outdoor go kart track, running the world famous sodikarts opened this summer and is already a favourite with locals and visitors. You can book a mini grand prix with friends and family. They also have arrive and drive slots so you don’t always need to book in advance.

5. Clay Pigeon Shooting
Pit your skills against friends and shoot some clays. Rothiemurchus, Ardverikie and Alvie Estates offer this sport under expert tuition and guidance. Craggan Outdoors run laser clay shooting too. We went clay pigeon shooting recently at Rothiemurchus and loved it! Some of us had never done it and some once before but we all hit some clays.

6. Take a walk
We have some amazing walks in the Cairngorms. Close to Aviemore explore the Rothiemurchus Estate and venture round Loch an Eilein. Or walk the beach at Loch Morlich. For a magical experience visit the fairies at the Green Loch in the pass of Ryvoan. All will afford you views for instagram worthy photos to share with your friends!

7. Visit the Cairngorm Reindeer
These amazing friendly creatures roam the local Cairngorm mountains. You can also meet them at their visitor centre at Glenmore or take a hill trek to meet them in their own environment.

8. Zip Park
Take an exhilirating aerial ride through a stunning Scottish Pine Forest. We did this in April last year in a blizzard! So much fun flying through the trees.

9. Highland Wildlife Park, Kincraig
The Highland Wildlife Park is home to Amur Tigers, Snow Leopards and Polar Bears to name just a few of the animals you will find here. Make some animal friends.

10. Landmark Forest Adventure Park, Carrbridge
In winter the Park is open but the big manned attractions such as the water slides are closed. There is still plenty to amuse you with a lost labyrinth, tree top trail, bamboozeleum, red squirrel trail, tropical plant house, ant city play area, forest viewing tower, and wonder wood. Call in advance if the weather is icy to check what is open.
